1.1 About Sonder Collective
Sonder Collective is a human-centred design and research consultancy registered as a cooperative (O.S.K.) in Finland. We operate globally, with over 100 consultants across 23 countries, bringing decades of collective expertise from various sectors, disciplines, and regions. Our team works remotely to provide research and design services for international organisations, foundations, and implementing partners that support vulnerable populations worldwide.
1.2 Purpose
This policy establishes Sonder Collective's zero-tolerance approach to child labor, child abuse, sexual exploitation, sexual abuse, and harassment. It applies to all work conducted by or on behalf of Sonder Collective, including research with vulnerable populations in settings such as refugee camps, hospitals, and communities.
1.3 Our Commitment
Sonder Collective is committed to creating safe environments for all research participants, particularly children and vulnerable adults. We are dedicated to preventing all forms of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment while ensuring ethical research practices that prioritize participant welfare. We maintain accountability at all organizational levels and prohibit child labor in our operations and supply chains.
1.4 Universal Responsibility
Everyone at Sonder Collective has safeguarding responsibilities. This policy applies to all Sonder Collective members, collaborators, consultants, subcontractors, and partners, regardless of their role or the duration of their engagement. Local implementing organizations, research partners, and any individuals acting on behalf of Sonder Collective are expected to adhere to this policy. This includes visitors to our research sites and anyone engaged through volunteer or informal arrangements. Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility, and we all play a role in creating safe environments for the communities we work with.
This policy applies to all individuals associated with Sonder Collective, including our members, collaborators, consultants, service providers, subcontractors, and board of directors. It also extends to local partners, implementing organizations, freelance consultants, and anyone representing Sonder Collective in any capacity. The policy covers all Sonder Collective operations globally, including remote work and fieldwork in all countries where we operate.
