The project leadership’s role(s) has the main responsibility for delivering a successful Sonder project and acting as an essential link between the project and Sonder.

Sonder has chosen to operate internally in holacracy - a method of decentralised management and organizational governance. However, the projects have the autonomy to organise how they see fit as long as they align with Sonder values, ethics, and compliance. The Project leadership is expected to ensure this within the project team.

What is project leadership accountable for?

The project leadership role and accountabilities might vary and be distributed within different project setups: in some projects there might be just a Project Lead role, and in a more complex project or program there might be roles like Program Lead, Design Lear, Project Manager, Project Coordinator, etc., sharing the responsibilities.

In essence, the project leadership is accountable for:

• Modelling the behaviours and mentality aligned with Sonder values and ethics.
• Understanding the big picture, providing direction, communicating the project vision and strategy, and creating conditions for the team to succeed.
• Managing the project scope, timeline and activities.
• Making sure kick-off, meetings, reviews and learning-sharing happen.
• Identifying and applying design methods aligned with Sonder’s design practice, ensuring the quality of design deliverables.
• Fostering a supportive environment empowers openness, autonomy and collaboration within the project team.
