Intro

• Thanks for your time
• I'm a designer working on improving OpenMRS. My job is to make sure the application is easy to use for people (registrars, nurses, doctors, healthcare workers etc.)
• At the moment, we're working on Order Entry. This means ordering anything from medication to x-rays or referrals etc.
• Goal for today's call for me to understand what some of the painpoints you currently have with OpenMRS are, and also for you to give feedback on how we are imagining ordering will work in the future.

Two important points

1. We are recording this conversation so that others working on developing the newest version of OpenMRS can view it. It won't be posted publicly online. Is that ok with you?
2. Second thing is about openness. It's important to know that we're not testing you, we're testing the design! If something isn't clear, or if you don't understand something, this isn't your fault please let us know, you won't offend us, and in fact it's more helpful for us. If you see something that you like, you can let us know about that too.

Process

• I've prepared a lot of questions to ask you, some of them might feel repetitive. My goal is always to understand what decisions you need to make at moments of your working day / within OpenMRS, and what information or features be looking for on the screen.

• I've prepared a simple prototype to show you what it might be like to order Aspirin in the new OpenMRS. During the call, I'm going to ask you to use it a few times, and give some first impressions. I'll give you space to click through it a few times, doing the same thing each time, so you can get a feel for what it would be like if it was something you had to use every day.

• Another thing to be aware of is that we are currently focussing the design on designing for tablets, so the prototype you'll see today is optimized for a tablet. You can still use it on a computer, but it is designed to fit on a small tablet.
